And it's not just us that thinks so!

We are undeniably very proud of our flavours. After all, we put a lot of time and effort into ensuring they are not only delicious, but that they are all natural too. In fact, it’s our mission to create the purest and most natural ice cream that delivers incredibly intense flavours.

And we are delighted to say that the New Zealand Outstanding Food producers think so too! Two of our most popular flavours have won awards again this year. Read on to find out more about how we make the flavours of our award winning PURE New Zealand Salted Caramel Ice Cream and our PURE New Zealand Roasted White and Dark Chocolate Ice Cream so amazing!

How do we decide what makes a tasty ice cream flavour?
Our artisan kitchen team work hard to provide flavours that are unique. We use only natural products and handmake each and every batch. Provenance is important to us too, so we source as much locally produced ingredient as possible. Combine all this and you end up with an ice cream that is full of natural goodness, with flavours that are genuine and innately intense.

Not only that, PURE New Zealand ice creams are truly Free of Artificial Preservatives, Emulsifiers, Stabilisers, Colours and Flavour Enhancers. This means that you can be sure that everything that goes into our ice creams is natural. We work with our suppliers to ensure that all our ingredients are of the highest quality. For example, our PURE New Zealand Salted Caramel Ice Cream contains PURE-made stovetop caramel that is sprinkled with New Zealand Marlborough flaky sea salt to create the delicious collision of flavours in the lightly salted caramel. No wonder the Outstanding Food Producers panel of judges think this flavour is worthy of a medal!

And for our PURE New Zealand Roasted White and Dark Chocolate Ice Cream, our other medal winner this year, we oven roast and caramelise Belgian Callebaut white chocolate, then fold this together with our award-winning Dark, 72% Belgian Callebaut Chocolate Ice Cream to create a swirl of unique white and dark chocolate flavours. The effect is a unique caramel twist with a visually arresting swirl, taking our Roasted White and Dark Chocolate Ice Cream to the next level. The Outstanding Food Producers panel of judges found the chocolate a real highlight!

The judgment

The Outstanding Food Producers celebrates Kiwis who harvest, grow and make food and drinks right here in New Zealand. The judges access over 200 products each year and medals awarded are a guarantee of product quality. About 75% of the marks for the products are based on aroma, appearance, taste, texture and quality with the final 25% being about sustainability and brand story. Products winning these medals are truly outstanding. PURE New Zealand Ice Cream is stoked to say we have won 57 awards since 2011.
